Character (Original Universe)
Name: Levy McGarden
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Canon: Fairy Tail
Canon Point: Immediately following the Edolas arc
History: Here and here
Personality:
Levy is one of the most upbeat and cheerful members of Fairy Tail, always trying to get along with her guildmates and wanting to see her guildmates getting along with each other in turn. She has a very kind personality, and tends to stay well on the verges of even the friendly brawls and rivalries that inevitably break out among her more boisterous and hotheaded colleagues. Levy is generally open and honest with everyone, and likes to make people feel welcome, as shown early on when she is one of the first people to approach Lucy and have a long conversation with her in an attempt to get to know her. She even tolerates the unwanted romantic advances of her teammates Jet and Droy, treating them with the same friendly smile and easygoing personality as she does everyone else. She even forgives Gajeel for attacking her team, feeling sympathy for him when she sees Laxus beating him up as revenge.

Because of this, however, sometimes Levy worries that she is too soft, or that she can't live up to the example of some of her more outwardly aggressive friends - Natsu and Grey come to mind. When she is chosen as one of the participants in the S-Class promotion exam, she initially can't believe her name was called, as she seems not to believe that she deserves the chance. During the exam itself, she gets down on herself about being small and weak, and not able to contribute to fights in the same way as her partner Gajeel. This is the flip side of Levy's conscientious nature, as she tends to worry that she won't be able to pull her weight when the time comes, or that she is only holding her companions back by not being able to fully keep up in a fight. Despite these personal reservations, though - or perhaps because of them - Levy is a hard worker, and always tries to do her best.

As the name of her magic, Solid Script, suggests, Levy is an avid reader. Books are her first and best love, and it's a rare day that she's seen in the guild hall without her nose in one. As an extension of this, she is both very intelligent and very creative. Even without the use of magic, Levy has studied numerous ancient languages, and is capable of translating documents, spells, and rituals at a level equivalent to those of the world's foremost scholars. Because of this affinity for reading, she manages to befriend Lucy very quickly, as the other girl happens to be an aspiring writer. And due to both that and her kind personality mentioned before, Levy is the only one who has read Lucy's manuscript - without revealing its contents to others, showing her to be as trustworthy as she is kind.

Although her kindness has been emphasized several times, Levy is not without a well-placed mischievous streak, and can sometimes be just as competitive as the other members of the guild. She is not at all above a little friendly teasing, especially with people she thinks of as close friends. Lucy is on the receiving end of this quite a bit, especially when it involves Levy teasing her about which of the guys (or girls) she likes. Her competitive streak is shown mainly during the S-Class exam, but she also holds a great deal of pride in her magic and knowledge. At the beginning of the exam, Levy rewrites a rune-based spell cast by the first team to leave the starting point and designed to slow everyone else down - but only for herself and her partner.

And while Levy knows how to hold her own in a guild full of talented wizards and appreciates the spirit of competition, she also knows when to focus on more important things. In the middle of the S-Class promotion exam, Levy and Gajeel discover that the island on which the exam is being held is under attack by another guild. While some of the other teams choose to attempt to continue on with the exam, Levy is the first one to abandon further trials in favor of trying to warn everyone else about what is going on. Her first priority is to unify the guild in the face of an enemy, realizing at once what the more important thing on everyone's minds should be. Although she may not be as strong as many of her comrades, she's probably more mature than many wizards twice her age.

Third-Person Sample:
Out in the courtyard in front of the library located in the Third District, there is a young blue-haired mage hard at work setting something up. She's got a table and a chair, with a clipboard and what appears to be a signup sheet of some kind sitting on the table as she works on painting the sign hanging off the front.

"Just a few more finishing touches, and... there!"

Smiling to herself, Levy wipes a bead of sweat from her forehead with the back of her hand before confidently twirling the paintbrush she's holding. As she steps back to survey her work, and now that the sign is visible, it's plain to any passersby that she's been setting up a guild recruitment table. Or at least, it's easy to infer as much from the 'FAIRY TAIL: NOW RECRUITING ALL MAGES' and the impressive sigil painted below it.

"Everyone! Fairy Tail, Aqures Ixen chapter is now open for recruitment! Seeking talented mages from any of the magic-using Jobs! Looking for good friends and never-ending adventure? Then Fairy Tail is the guild for you!"

Levy calls out to anyone who will listen, enthusiastically giving the pitch for her guild. She knows there are other ones out there already - older, more powerful, more well known and well respected guilds - but Fairy Tail will always be the only guild for her. And she wants to bring that same sense of warmth and companionship she feels back home here to Crystallis.

Master... Lucy... everyone... Levy thinks to herself, I don't know what lies ahead in this world, or if I'll be able to return again, but I'll never forget the things I learned from you.

She closes her eyes briefly, smiling to herself as she remembers the third rule of leaving Fairy Tail: Though our paths may have diverged, I will continue to live out my life with all my might, I will never consider my own life to be something insignificant, and I will never forget about my friends for as long as I live.

And just like that, and with that silent promise to her guildmates a whole world away, Levy goes right back to work, waving enthusiastically at onlookers and doing the best she knows how.

Mognet Sample:
Hello everyone,

My name is Levy McGarden. I'm a Scholar and Black Mage here, but back in my world I was a member of a magic guild called Fairy Tail. Magic guilds are a place where wizards can gather together to make friends, learn new things, train their magic, and even make money doing jobs for people. I'm pretty new here, and even though I'm not used to this world's magic and have a lot to learn, I want to help.

My specialty is research and ancient languages, so if there's anything you need translated, I'd be happy to take a look at it! I've even heard of some other jobs out there too, like capturing monsters for an arena, so if anyone wants to team up, I'm up for anything! I'll be charging Fairy Tail's usual fees, but I think you'll find our prices are very reasonable. I'll be waiting for your moogles!

Respectfully yours,
Levy McGarden of Fairy Tail

Crystallis
